The International Economic Development Council, a worldwide largest economic development professional association, is holding the 2018 annual conference on 10/1/2018 at Atlanta, Georgia; and this year the Citizen Leadership Award goes to Charlie W. Chen to recognize his business leadership in the community economic development. Charlie has served 15+ years on the board of Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Texas, and was the 2015 elected Chairman (the first Asian American in Chamber's 70 years history). He was instrumental in establishing the Richardson City's International Business Program and promoting the redevelopment of “Telecom Corridor” to become the Innovation District with many initiatives and support. In recent years Charlie also established an experimental program “DFW Innovation Center” with his personal resources to help local start-ups and soft-landing facilitation for the new international companies.


Benefit Performance for Hurricane Harvey Relief - DFW Technology was leading another timely charity event with its CEO Charlie Chen as the event’s general adviser and major sponsor. The event raised more than $15,000.00 and donated to The Network Foundation based in Richardson, TX, which offered assistance in the Harvey disaster relief efforts. Many community organizations participated in this local collaborated event, including City of Richardson’s International Office, Texas American China Cultural Foundation, and JiaPing Shi Dance School, Texas Boys Choir, UNT Chinese Music Ensemble. The event was held in Richardson Civic Center and attended by several hundred audiences from the local community.



Charlie W. Chen chaired the RCC's 70th annual banquet with thousand’s local business members at Renaissance Hotel of Richardson, and received the 2015 Chairman’s plaque from his successor Ken Hutchenrider, President of Richardson Methodist Hospital, who becomes the new 2016 Chairman.
